New Event Concept for the Airsoft Community
20 December 2003
U.S. Airsoft is currently fielding an idea for a 40hr continuous military scenario. We have developed this outline to present to the airsoft community in efforts to seek interest and concerns for this concept.
First let us start with the fact that we are dedicated to developing environments in which one cannot help but learn. Our goal is to provide the most realistic events based on real world missions, and present them in a manner that will challenge every aspect of your skills both mental and physical. However, we try to provide a balance between those with a competitive heart and those who enjoy the hobby of airsoft.
" For in the end the competition lies within. "
- Mark Anderson
Event Levels
This event is a two tier system. The first level will run like many other events, they will run scenarios during the day and retreat to base camps at night. The second level is designed for those wish to be challenged. They will be hunted, captured and held without sleep, escape, be rescued, and more.
Event Organization
The event will be divided into two sides. U.S. and OPFOR (i.e.: Soviet, Taliban, etc...) The U.S. Forces will be divided into two units an infantry unit and a Special Forces Detachment (Level 2). Limited slots will open first for the Special Forces Detachment. This assignment is not for the faint of heart. The SF will be in action 100% of the time. They will have to be highly mobile, they will eat on the move, sleep in rotation, and never in the same place twice. In order to be a part of this team you must complete a two-day SF training course prior to the event. The SF training course will filter out those who will not be able to move, shoot, communicate, and sustain for 40 hrs. Those who do not pass the SF training course will join the ranks of the U.S. infantry or Opposing force in a team leadership position. The team leaders will therefore have an understanding of what is expected and will be in the best position to lead others. Obviously, not everyone can be on the SF team.
The U.S. Infantry, and Opposing Force will operate more in line with normal airsoft events. They will have a base camps in located somewhere in the safe zones on opposite ends of the free fire area. This allows them to retire to a safe area for meals and rest. The U.S. and Opposing Force will not be camping in the same area and will have no contact other than on the field.
Event Summary
Obviously, we cannot go into detail about the mission objectives or briefings until such time as your leadership will inform you. However, rest assured that everything that will happen would be based on real world missions and events throughout history.
Teams will be deployed in different areas and communicate through the use of PRC-77 radio packs that will be supplied to each team. They will also navigate with the use of GPS systems.
Rules of Engagement
SAFETY FIRST! - Weapons must be clear and safe in the safe zones.
HONOR SECOND! - No one is permitted to call someone else's hit. Any issues must be respectfully brought to the attention of the Cadre working with your team.
Two safe areas will be established on either side of the free fire area. The base camps will be set up in these areas.
AEG rifles will be limited to 400fps with a 20 ft engagement limit.
Squad Automatic Weapons will be limited to 450fps with a 50 ft engagement limit.
Sniper rifles will be limited to 500fps with a 75 ft engagement limit.
Velocity reducers are not allowed.
Black head gear can not be worn. This is used to identify Cadre.
Working FRS Radios are required for all individuals.
Cadre
Each Team will have two USAS Cadre Members; one will operate as a CIA/ Intelligence Officer and one will be the Medic. These individuals have experience in land navigation, military leadership, survival, combat tactics.
The CIA/ Intelligence Officer will reveal information on a need to know basis. He will also serve to help the team leader maintain control of his mission and his men.
The medic will serve to help the players remember the hit rules and look for hits that you may not otherwise have felt (i.e.: hits to your gear) We will also be using a new set of hit rules which will require the medic to be on the ball.
Hit rules are as follows: If shot in the arms or legs you will yell "MEDIC" and he will bandage your injury. If you are hit in the head, chest, or anywhere a second time you will yell, "Man Down". The teams must move its dead by holding on to them while they walk. This will simulate carrying them. If two people are holding onto one dead, then they can run. If wounded in the leg you can only run if you are holding on to a non-injured teammate. The wounded and dead will automatically respawn once the objective is taken or the team falls back into a defensive posture for 15 minutes.
Time and Cost
This event would take place this spring and cost approx $60.00 per person. Those who wish to be on the SF team would have to attend a two-day event at a cost of $40.00.
